Chothi, the third day of Onam, is known as a day to strengthen family bonding. In the past, it was on Chothi day that families would go to the shops together and buy Onam dresses for everyone. In the olden days, the anticipation of that once-a-year Onam gift and the celebration of Onam wearing that gift were memories that would linger forever. Today, the improved economic situation and the emergence of branded clothing have given Onam a new look, but it has lost its old glory.
